From the ancient Greeks to the Japanese, sea vegetables have been eaten by the people of various cultures for thousands of years. And no small wonder, as they are one of the most mineral-rich foods around, containing all the minerals that are found in human blood. In fact, researchers claim that the chemical composition of the oceans are very similar to that of our own bodies. And sea vegetables absorb all of those nutrients, unlike land vegetables which are often grown in nutritionally-depleted soil in large commercial farms.

One of the most frequent questions I hear is “how long before I can see results”? The answer is usually not so crystal clear — people define results differently, and have far different expectations about what they can achieve. Most people focus on their physical appearance when they talk about success:

Television ads for yogurt have always been a bit suspect. Aimed relentlessly at women, they make it seem like yogurt should rank alongside chocolate, sex and shoe shopping when it comes to the female gender. But what is being flogged is not plain-Jane yogurt. Traditional yogurt has never been a big seller in North America, but the food marketers have figured out how to manufacture and market low-fat and no-fat varieties to the hoards of women on endless diet cycles. The result? Many have been duped into regularly consuming Frankenfood-like concoctions containing aspartame, fillers, stabilizers, conditioners and a host of artificial and “natural” flavors. Yogurt sales have since boomed.

It’s hard to believe that only three or four years ago, I was plagued by pain in my joints and leg muscles. I was in a stage of my life where I couldn’t get past a single day without taking Advil or another pain-relieving drug. It’s almost embarrassing to admit now, but less than four summers ago I was eating Advil almost like it was candy, because every four to five hours the pain would return. Multiple trips to various physicians didn’t shed much light on the problem, tests came up negative and all they could do was to continue to monitor my situation.

I know what you’re thinking.  You’ve accepted the now-common wisdom that it’s a good thing to eat breakfast, and that it’s probably important to eat something ‘healthy’.  But if your idea of a healthy breakfast is a bowl of a Raisin Bran with skim milk and a glass or orange juice, or some museli [...]

Most everyone loves chocolate. Not just for the taste, but for the ‘feel good’ hormones it seems to posses! Unfortunately, most of the chocolate that people eat is not chocolate at all – it’s just candy. Overly sweetened, processed ‘chocolate’ bears little resemblance to the product that the ancient Incas prized so much that they used it as a currency!
