Last week I had the pleasure of appearing on the CP24 television show “Wylde on Health” with non-other than best-selling author Robb Wolf.  In fact Robb’s new book “The Paleo Solution” just made the New York Times bestseller list yesterday!  If you haven’t already, I can’t recommend the read highly enough.  Wolf has a way of making the scientific enjoyable, and you’ll end up with a thorough understanding of the “original human diet”.

Just as Erwan LeCorre predicted, I have mixed emotions about returning home. After spending five days at his MovNat Expansion course in West Virginia last week, I’m gratified to take a few rest days, heal my wounds and sleep in my own bed. Nevertheless, there’s another part of me that’s longing to be back at Sumersville Lake, with its unpredictable weather and rough terrain, facing more MovNat combo and course challenges. What an adventure.

From the ancient Greeks to the Japanese, sea vegetables have been eaten by the people of various cultures for thousands of years. And no small wonder, as they are one of the most mineral-rich foods around, containing all the minerals that are found in human blood. In fact, researchers claim that the chemical composition of the oceans are very similar to that of our own bodies. And sea vegetables absorb all of those nutrients, unlike land vegetables which are often grown in nutritionally-depleted soil in large commercial farms.

I don’t do well in the cold. In fact, despite being Canadian, I don’t even like winter at all. I tend to hibernate more than I should. When I first heard about MovNat, I pictured myself running barefoot through the jungle, leaping from trees and swinging from vines. After all, MovNat founder Erwan Le Corre looks a bit like a short-haired version of Tarzan in his YouTube videos, as he skillfully moves through some stunning natural backdrops. His approach seemed refreshing and seemed to take the notion of functional fitness one step further. It seemed “right”.

Television ads for yogurt have always been a bit suspect. Aimed relentlessly at women, they make it seem like yogurt should rank alongside chocolate, sex and shoe shopping when it comes to the female gender. But what is being flogged is not plain-Jane yogurt. Traditional yogurt has never been a big seller in North America, but the food marketers have figured out how to manufacture and market low-fat and no-fat varieties to the hoards of women on endless diet cycles. The result? Many have been duped into regularly consuming Frankenfood-like concoctions containing aspartame, fillers, stabilizers, conditioners and a host of artificial and “natural” flavors. Yogurt sales have since boomed.
